Cheyenne Canyon is located on the southwest side of Colorado Springs in the southern Front Range. Colorado Springs Airport is the most convenient airport about half an hour from the park and serves most of the continental US. For international travelers and those not sticking around the Colorado Springs area Denver International Airport is the most commonly used airport.
North Cheyenne Canyon is a cooler granite area in the Front Range that has a number of nice introductory multipitch climbs. There are also a variety of single pitch climbs hidden amongst the pines to keep one busy.
Climb Name | Climb Description | |
---|---|---|
Cracks Parallel (5.7, 2 pitches) | For being just a few feet from the car this slab has a few hundred feet of stellar moves that will have you dancing up the crystals. From the top climbers can slide down the gully to any number of other enjoyable climbs. | |
Supersonic (5.9, 2 pitches) | A great climb to do after warming up on Hanging Gardens. The start is the same up rambling granite before heading out on some clean panels of granite to a bolted anchor at the top. From there climbers rappel past where they started into another gully. | |
Full Meal Deal (5.10c, 2 pitches) | Another clean panel of granite for those willing to work up the hill and find it. While possible in a single long pitch it's generally better as two with polished granite slab being the order of the day. |

This is another locals spot in the Front Range at the edge of Colorado Springs. With granite spires rising a few hundred feet there are a variety of climbs for those just learning to climb. While primarily a sport climbing area there are enough crack features to help people learn to trad climb or sport climb. This canyon tends to stay cooler than the rest of Colorado Springs and makes a great place to escape the heat in it's pine forests with North Cheyenne Creek tumbling down from Pikes Peak. The waterfall hikes that are so pleasant in the summer also make for great ice climbs here in the winter.
